PropelZ began life on IBM Z (z/OS), where it reliably moves mainframe data into cloud and distributed targets with point-and-click simplicity. But as we engaged with customers and partners, one theme kept surfacing: the same “move data where it’s needed” challenge exists everywhere — and Linux is often at the heart of modern IT.
From our internal design discussions:
- Customers want to run the data mover where the data lives to avoid unnecessary hops and unnecessary load on other systems.
- Linux dominates both enterprise servers and cloud infrastructure, making it a natural environment for extending PropelZ.
- Packaging for Linux also aligns with modern marketplace distribution models, containerization, and cloud-native deployment.
The result is straightforward: the PropelZ engine now runs anywhere you have Java, including Linux.
