Welcome to the February 2026 issue of AI-Ready Data Access Insights

AI is accelerating. Modernization is funded.

And yet, every delay traces back to one thing — how fast you can safely access your core data.

This month, we focus on what’s actually working.

From our live session with Progress Software on high-performance, production-ready data integration… to a real-world customer validation showing a 24x performance improvement… to expanded drivers and connectors that make no-code data delivery even more flexible — February is about execution, not theory.

If data access is the bottleneck in your AI, analytics, or modernization strategy, this issue is for you.

Let’s dive in.

Trusted Leadership Meets Breakthrough Data Access Innovation

On February 19, VirtualZ joined Progress Software to discuss how enterprises can modernize data access across complex hybrid environments — without disrupting critical systems.

Event - Building Modern Data Access for Hybrid Systems

A key takeaway: performance, openness, and customer convenience matter. By integrating Progress DataDirect JDBC drivers directly into PropelZ, we deliver high-throughput, production-ready integrations in a highly implementable, out-of-the-box model.

PropelZ Drivers and Connectors

PropelZ Drivers and Connectors make it simple to move enterprise data to the platforms your teams already use — with no code and no re-architecture.

Every PropelZ license includes one JDBC driver at no additional cost, giving you the flexibility to start with Snowflake, Databricks, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or another supported target — and add more drivers as new use cases emerge.

For deeper platform integration, optional connectors such as the PropelZ Splunk Connector (z/OS) enable direct delivery of structured data like SMF records and RACF logs into Splunk for observability, security, and threat detection — without scripts, staging, or custom development. Start where you are. Expand as you grow. Schedule a briefing to learn more.

Featured Customer Use Case

A large U.S. retailers recently completed a high-impact performance validation using PropelZ as part of a cloud database initiative. In baseline testing, loading approximately 400,000 VSAM records into a PostgreSQL environment required nearly two hours. After applying optimized batch and commit parameters, the same workload completed in under five minutes — a more than 24x performance improvement without custom coding or architectural redesign.

To validate scale, the team executed a large-volume stress test against a dataset exceeding 200 million records. The process sustained throughput of roughly 3.3 million records per minute (approximately 55,000–60,000 records per second), demonstrating consistent, near-linear performance at tens of millions of rows. The outcome: faster migration cycles, predictable scalability, and a clear path to production with measurable performance gains tied directly to modernization objectives.

Storage Modernization in 2026

In 2026, data is no longer something enterprises manage in the background — it’s the asset shaping how they compete, comply, and innovate across every environment.

Customers aren’t asking for more pipelines, tools, or platforms to manage.

They’re asking for direct, secure access to trusted data — access that’s faster, simpler, and safer, without disrupting the systems that already run the business.
